Why is there a cake on my blog?
Naomi and I were invited out to the airport in Rocky Point to be in attendance when the first of what we hope will be many flights landed today at 12:34.
This is the first flight connecting Puerto Peñasco to Las Vegas. These planes originate in Guadalajara with a stop in Obregon, Sonora and Hermosillo before stopping in Puerto Peñasco en route to Las Vegas, Nevada. From Vegas the plane makes the entire route backwards (the plane flies forward but does the ....oh never mind you know what I mean) just a few hours later, making it possible for folks to fly in to Peñasco direct making it very convenient for all of those new tourists to experience our little sea side haven.
I didn't know what to think as the pump trucks came out of their garage prior to the plane landing......
It turns out they were christening the maiden voyage for the press that came out
in droves for this momentous day. Naomi says this is not water but rather champagne!
Here the mayor of Rocky Point speaks to the crowd about the exciting opportunities that lay ahead.
Very well stocked snack bar according to Hector Vasquez Mercado, the President of the office for conventions and visitors (OCV) here in Rocky Point.
